Originally I trained as a textile designer at Falmouth School of Art and went on to work in the textile industry. In the 1980’s I studied printmaking at Hereford College of Art and more recently at West Dean College and the Sidney Nolan Trust.
Since becoming a printmaker my work has become more illustrative, incorporating my love of pattern and texture, stylisation and fluidity of line, which have always been important elements in my designs. My subject matter is often influenced by classic legends, sometimes sparked by a line in a poem, a fairy tale, a chance remark or just ‘out of the blue’; and still featuring natural forms including animals, birds and mythical beasts.
I use several printmaking techniques including: etching, screen printing, wood engraving, linocut and collagraph, my preferred medium to create exquisite limited edition work.
I have exhibited widely in Great Britain and my work is in private collections throughout Europe and also in Australia, Canada and the U.S.A.
